UPDATE: Jim Murphy Wins Judge Race for New Sub-circuit

Jim Murphy prevailed in the election for the first judge for the new 1st Subcircuit.  Local legal historians believe that Jim is the first Aurora Democrat to be elected to the bench in over 75 years.

Election results for the 1st Subcircuit come from 2 election authorities--the City of Aurora election commission and the Kane County Clerk for Montgomery, North Aurora and unincorporated areas.  The total results for the 2 election authorities are as follows:

Jim Murphy (D)     19,106     64.5%

Fred Morelli (R)     10,585     35.5%

The Clerk's results are located here.  You may also link to the separate Aurora election commission results from that Kane County web page.

Message from Judge-elect Murphy

To my family, friends, supporters, volunteers, co-workers, and all of the great folks in Aurora, Montgomery, and North Aurora who make up this new 1st Subcircuit, many of whom I met during the campaign:  THANK YOU.  I hope I will earn your continued trust and confidence by doing a good job for you.  I also want continue to participate after court hours in community programs for senior citizens and at risk youth.  Since this subcircuit is a new concept for Kane County, I want to make it relevant for you, my neighbors and friends, and work with you toward the betterment of our "hometown."

Again, thank you so much for all of your efforts and good wishes on my behalf, and I look forward to working as a Judge for you.

If you have any questions, you may contact me by email, or at (630) 896-9711.

Sincerely,

Democratic Circuit Judge-elect
